It is important that you get relevant traffic which is likely to help you with your sales and revenue. You don't need thousands of visitors who are not giving you any sales but if you can get quality hundreds of visitors which brought you some sales then these hundreds of visitors are surely much useful than those thousands of visitors who didn't give you any sale/revenue.
